How Can I Apply the Brought Forward/Rollover Policy to the Previous Year (the Past)?

It could happen that you forgot to set the Brought Forward policy on time (it happens, we won’t tell anyone) or that you decided to change your policy and allow unused days to rollover from the previous year (good for you!). In either case, you can apply the Brought Forward setting to the past as well by using the steps below!

If you are yet to turn on your Brought Forward settings, please see the following article: How Do I Set a Brought Forward (Rollover) Policy?

Go to the Vacation Tracker Dashboard: app.vacationtracker.io
On the left-hand side menu click on Locations
Once in the Locations section, choose the location you would like to edit this setting for (please note, if you need to edit for multiple locations, you will need to edit one by one)
Once in the location, go to the Leave Policies tab and choose the leave type you would like to edit the setting for
Scroll down to the Brought Forward settings and you will see a field called “When Would You Like to Apply These Changes?

You can select to only affect the current and upcoming years (ex: It is December 2023 and if you select this option, users will transfer unused days from 2023 into 2024 and for every following year after)

You can select to affect the previous year and all upcoming years (ex: It is December 2023 and if you select this option, users will transfer unused days from 2022 to 2023 and for every following year after)

Once you make your choice click Save, and the setting will be applied for that specific leave type and that specific location

Please note, you can only apply this setting to the most recent year in the past. Example: it’s December 2023 and you’re turning on the setting for the past. The system will only allow unused days to transfer from 2022 into 2023 (and for all future years).
