How Do I Set Notifications Within Vacation Tracker?

Do you need a more efficient way to let your users know who's away? Our Notifications page gives you customization options to let your users and management know about upcoming, scheduled leaves!

Keep in mind, both Admins and Approvers can set notifications using our Notifications page; however, Approvers are not able to edit or delete Admin set notifications or notifications created by other Approvers.

Let's begin with setting up your notification(s):

Go to to log in to your online dashboard.

On the left-hand side menu, you will see the Notifications section.

Select the Notifications button

In this section, you will be able to configure the settings for your notifications.

Enter the Name of the Notification
(This field is solely informational and will only be visible on the notifications settings page)

The Filter By option will allow you to select either the Location or Department
(If you are currently subscribed to our Complete plan, you can additionally filter by Labels. Also, keep in mind you can always mix and match different filter options)

Select when you’d like your notifications to display, Daily or Weekly

If you select Daily, be sure to select the days of the week that you'd like the notifications to be sent:

If you select Weekly, you can opt to receive the leave information for the Current Week or Next Week. Please note, if you select the Next Week option, it will include information for the following week.

You can then select the day that the week starts on and select which day the Weekly Notification will be sent on

Select the Time and the Time Zone

In the Send To field, you will be able to select either Channel or Email. If you select Channel, our system will recognize the channels affiliated with your integration platform (Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations).

For our Google Workspace and Email integrations, you will solely see an option to enter email addresses. You are able to enter multiple email addresses in this field.

If you are using our Microsoft Teams or Slack integration, you can use both channel and email notification options when setting notifications.

The Group Leave By option will allow you to choose if you'd like the notifications to be sent by Department or Location. If you do not want the notifications to be grouped, the leaves will be listed in alphabetical order.

You can also indicate whether or not you’d like to receive notifications if there are no scheduled leaves.
A summary of the settings will display at the bottom of the page.

When you are ready, select Save Notification.

The notification information will be visible on the main Notification page.

If you'd like to test out or see a live preview of your new notification, you can also send the notification immediately, using the Send Now option.

Please note, if you are part of our Core plan you will only be able to filter notifications by Departments and/or Locations. If you are part of our Complete plan you will be able to additionally filter with our Labels option.
